Fiber laser cutting with an automated tower

Our Bystronic 6 kW fiber laser works with a fully automated tower system on a 5 ft × 10 ft cutting bed, and cuts material up to 1.125 in. thick. Full automation allows extended cutting hours, which keeps lead times to a minimum while leaving room for large production jobs.

Fiber laser cutting gives us quicker cutting and better cut quality, with better cuts on a wider variety of materials and thicknesses. Cut parts go straight to our CNC press brakes, fabrication shop and machine shop in the same building.

Forming

CNC press brakes up to 250 tons

Laser-cut blanks move straight to our CNC press brakes for bending and forming: a 12 ft, 250 ton machine for long and heavy parts and a 4 ft, 66 ton machine for smaller work.

Cutting, bending, welding, machining and finishing all happen in one building, so formed parts can go on to our fabrication and machine shops without leaving our hands.

Why fiber

What our fiber laser gives you

Quicker cutting

Fiber laser cutting moves parts on to forming and fabrication sooner.

Better cut quality

Better cuts on a wider variety of materials and thicknesses.

Extended hours

The automated tower allows extended cutting hours and keeps lead times to a minimum.

Room for production

Automation leaves room for large production jobs.

Questions

Laser and forming questions

How thick can you laser cut?

Our Bystronic 6 kW fiber laser cuts material up to 1.125 in. thick on a 5 ft × 10 ft bed, across a wide variety of materials and thicknesses. Send your drawing or DXF and we will confirm your material and thickness.

Can you bend the parts you cut?

Yes. Our CNC press brakes, a 12 ft, 250 ton machine and a 4 ft, 66 ton machine, form parts after cutting, and our fabrication shop can weld and finish them.

Can we see the laser before we place an order?

Yes. Customers are welcome to stop in and see our equipment. Ask your Met-L-Tec contact to set up a visit, or call (734) 847-7004.

What happens after the cut

Fabrication

Turnkey fabrication with TIG, MIG, aluminum and orbital pipe and tube welding, from tooling frames to platforms, mezzanines and lift tables.

CNC Machining

Twelve CNC lathes and mills with 5-axis high speed machining for prototypes, unique parts and short- and medium-run production.

Prototype 3D Printing

Seven in-house 3D printers with build sizes up to 39 × 20 × 20 in., for prototype parts and for our tooling.
